Conservation Volunteers Day 2015

Conservation-Volunteers-Day-2015

A total of 13 conservation volunteers from Chevron Australia (IT section) enthusiastically participated in the rubbish clean-up at the reserve. Also in attendance were Brian Inglis and two of his staff from DPAW. Frank, Noel, and Trevor from the Friends Group participated as well. The conservation volunteers did a fantastic job in cleaning out the drain and also retrieving rubbish along Wannaping Road. Brian estimated that upto 1.5 tonne of rubbish might have been picked up by the volunteers.

Glimpses of Sustainability in Perth, Western Australia

Brixton-Street_Sustainability

Abstract

Community-based activism has proven to be one of the most effective ways of addressing social and environmental injustice, the root causes of unsustainability.

Today, millions of sustainability activist groups (SAGs) are actively engaged in various social and environmental initiatives around the world. To date, however, there have been few photographic narratives from SAGs depicting adaptive capacity—the ability to maintain various assets underchanging circumstances in order to fulfill desired objectives.

This paper responds to this gap and offers a glimpse of one of the longest running activist initiatives in Perth, the state capital of Western Australia.Convenor of the group Mrs Regina Drummond
